Description

Introduces the fundamental concepts of summarizing data and statistical inference, including graphical displays, hypothesis testing, p-values, and confidence intervals. Specific topics include comparisons of means and proportions, non-parametric tests, sample size determination, power calculations, analysis of variance, and linear regression. Additional topics include a brief introduction to logistic regression and multivariable regression analysis. Examples are given using STATA and R statistical software, and students will be taught how to interpret output from STATA or R. Prior knowledge of STATA and R is not a prerequisite.

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Community Health Sciences graduate program or Public Health and Preventative Medicine program.

Antirequisite(s): Credit for Community Health Sciences 610 and either Medical Science 643.01 or Veterinary Medicine 610 will not be allowed.
