Simple Requirements

Completion requirement

In addition to the requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the home program:

MSc students are required to complete:

  • course*; plus

  • a minimum of 3 units of courses from the Neuroscience Series (see below).

PhD students are required to complete:

  • course*; plus

  • a minimum of 3 additional units of courses from the Computational Series (see below); and

  • a minimum of 6 units of courses from the Neuroscience Series (see below).

*Medical Science 628 (Introduction to Computational Neuroscience) is expected to be completed unless approval is received from the Computational Neuroscience program oversight committee to substitute another Computational Series course.

Note: Other course options may be available with approval from the Program Oversight Committee.

All students are expected to participate in a Computational Neuroscience journal club. Students will also be expected to attend relevant seminars and present their work at a work-in-progress seminar series during their degree.

Completion requirement

Advanced Credit

The applicant should make requests for Advanced Credit at the time of application, as part of the admissions process. Credit may be granted for appropriate courses to count towards the specialization with approval of the Computational Neuroscience program.


Credit for Undergraduate Courses

Credit will not be given for undergraduate or 500-level courses.
